The chief of the PDK Parliamentary Group, Abelard Tahiri, in a response to Gazeta Express, praised the Constitutional Court's decision as good news.
He said that this decision failed Prime Minister Albin Kurti's attempt to bring the State Prosecutor's Office under his rule.
“We've used a right of our own, submitted it to the Constitutional Court and, finally, after 10 months, if you do, the Constitutional Court gives us justice in all the remarks we've made as the PDK's parliamentary group. Proclaiming this law as an unconstitutional law is good news for justice and good news for the State Prosecutor's Office, because at last Kurt's attempt to bring it under his control, or under his rule, the State Prosecutor's Office failed”, Tahiri said.
After that, the Government has not taken into account their complaints about this Law, which it says conflicts with the Constitution of Kosovo and has therefore called for the withdrawal of this Law.
“We as the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party of Kosovo since the coming of the draft law in the Kosovo Assembly, which is the procedure by the Government, have given our remarks and let the Kosovo government, the prime minister and the justice minister know that this bill is in conflict with our constitutional order, and seriously violates the independence of the Prosecutorial Council and the State Prosecutor's Office. So we've asked the government in that period to get the law out of the way it can't be processed, otherwise we normally have all of these remarks that we have convinced that it's against the constitution as a bill to send you to the Constitutional Court. The government does not have the will to take into account at all our complaints we have in our first reading and second reading, and have decided to vote”, Tahiri said.
We remember that amendments to the Law for the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council were adopted on June 23rd, with 60 votes for a abstention.
