The proposal before the government cabinet was made by Finance Minister Iron Murati.
“Under the support of the energy system, there have been several measures that have been implemented by the Government as they are for effective equipment, but also for subsidising electricity savings. Under this we are making the next division and the separation for this measure will be for up to 6m euros”- Murati said.
The Kosovo government from September is beginning to subsidise citizens who save electricity. This subsidisation of electricity is within the package prepared by the executive to cope with inflation.
Citizens will be subsidised for double electricity savings. Consumers do not need to apply, as data from the Energy Regulatory Office will be used.
Finance Minister Iron Murati had announced that if a family spent 1,000 kilowatts in September last year, while in September of this year it spent 900 kilowatt, it would be subsidised for twice the savings, 20% (as 10% is savings in two months, while twice the savings is 20%).
