Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has admitted to cheating Parliament over holidays that broke the rules of Covid, but denied he did it on purpose.
Johnson has published a 50-page defense. In it, he says his guarantees to MPs that the blocking rules were followed were made with “well-being”. The former prime minister has become part of a scandal named Partygate, as he has held several parties during the pandemic period.
Johnson faces suspension or even expulsion from Parliament if MPs decide he deliberately deceived them. The former prime minister is expected to appear before the Committee of Privileges tomorrow at a TV hearing.
In his defence document, Johnson says he had not deliberately deceived” MPs and “would not want to do so”.
