According to him, however, this measure is short - term and not to be incensed by consumers.
It's a relief for citizens normally. Because that bill-building part, government subsidies. But it is a very short-term measure and a measure that does not claim to lower energy consumption rates for the future. It is only a measure to achieve a social peace of consumer and not to be upset by the consumer for raising the price of energy”, he said in Tv 1.
Jocaj estimates the government should clarify why emergency measures have continued.
“Pics should first give a clarification to the Government of Kosovo itself, because the emergency measures it has approved around 8-9 times in a row have been the very legitimacy of reducing electricity. Because with those measures it's not that we've benefited a lot in terms of reducing consumption because we've seen that we've had smaller energy consumption because temperatures have been warmer. But in those days when temperatures almost reached -5, 6 -7 degrees, we saw that consumption again rose. Once again citizens used electricity to heat their environments. Perhaps the government itself should explain why it has continued emergency measures, because these measures have been if only well analysed solely for the legitimacy of reduction”, he added.
Today the ZERE Board has approved new tariffs for KESCO, which raise electricity tariffs. With these tariffs from April 1st, the price of energy will rise by 14 percent.
The rise in the electricity price has been rejected by the opposition, while the Government of Kosovo has shared in the past gathering tools for continuing subsidisation of energy bills.
