Opposition counts government failures

The flight of health professionals, very high inflation and the interruption of capital investments are some of the failures that mention the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo for Kurti Government. The LDK's PDK say that for these two years there has been degradation and lack of economic development, while citing high inflation and expensive electricity as a result of the poor “governance”.

Democratic League of Kosovo deputy (LDK), Rzazarta Krasniqi, says that Kosovo has remained in many spheres for these two years. It cites failure to ensure new recognition, inflation, and expensive electricity and basic products.

On February 14th, what appears to have been a mortorium in the state of Kosovo, because now for two years we haven't seen any work done by this government and have come to power that dialogue has had as a seven point in their programme, it's now turned out to be the first turn. They have also come to power with the principle that there will be no nepotism now, we are seeing that most institutions have been seized by VV”, Krasniqi said, as he also mentions halting capital investments.

“have come to power that they will build all highways, so far we don't even have a start of building them, we also have a Pristina- Mitrovica magistrate's disruption. Because of the problems they have in the ministry, and it seems likely now you have to take the tender, someone from the VV party. They've come to the resorts that the couple will have residences, and now they've been expensive on property taxes. They have come to power that energy will be released, and now we have 100 percent of the cost of energy. There is an increase of basic products over 50 percent”, she said.

There was no progress, I can tell you, in some dictatorships there was a reaction. As for foreign policy, we have no membership in international organisations for two years now, no new recognitions, and we already have an agreement that is harmful to the country. In that agreement as an opposition, we have expected that there will be final recognition, and now the prime minister turns out to say there is no final recognition but basic recognition”.

And Democratic Party of Kosovo deputy (PDK), Bekim Haxhiu, says that for these two years of Kurti Government, there is no improvement in any sector.

He says health is in serious condition, such as lack of medicines and long waiting lists.

The “is actually a failure to fulfill this government's pledges in relation to promises and we're in relation to the governing programme, you're saying that in how many areas we haven't seen any improvement of the situation or an advancement of a sector. When we're in health, we can say that there's been degradation in this sector, our health over the past two years has faced even greater drug shortages, is facing even greater patient waiting lists, with larger escapes of health professionals abroad”, he says.

As a result of this government, Haxhiu mentions the massive evacuation of health workers. He also mentions a lack of adequate health laws.

In the year 2022 alone, there are more than 1,000 health professionals who have abandoned Kosovo. This is a huge burden for us to create huge consequences in the health sector, and for two years the government was unable at least to approve that it had under the programme of promised health reform. As long as there's no strategy, this week's first health sector laws have begun to come. But, which are not substantial laws in this case, the Law on Health, the Law on Health Insurance, the law on medical products equipment that would have an impact on improving the health sector”, he said.
