At a media conference, Mehmet has spoken of reaching out as BQC governor over the 5 years at its helm, saying the financial system in the country has succeeded and continued growth.
“Media communication has been a very important factor and will continue in the future. Despite the difficulties we have faced as an institution, I am happy that the last five years BQ has provided a stable financial system and is one of the main pillars of individuals and the economy. Since March 2018 we have succeeded in fulfilling our role, the financial system in the country during this period has had success and continued growth”, Mehmeti said.
He has talked about the level of active loans, which for 5 years increased for 1.6 billion euros, or 57.9 percent.
Mehmeti said the increase in loans is largely based on increased deposits.
The credit rating is largely supported by increased deposits, which in December 2022 marked 5.55 billion euros, or for an increase from 2018 to about 65.1%”, he said.
He also spoke of microfinancial and non-bank financial institutions, which he said by 2018, have an increase of 146m euros in assets.
Apart from the banking system, even microfinancial and non-bank financial institutions have marked stable performance, where at the end of 2022 the value of the sector's assets was 387.7m euros and there is an increase of 146m euros or 60.5% compared to the year 2018<18x1>.
“As if in banks, even in this key sector, loans were loans, where in December 2022 amounted to 351m euros or an increase of 128.9m euros compared to the year 2018<18x1>, Mehmeti has indicated.
In the end, he said that priorities such as the institution would also provide consumer protection, with which he said 810 complaints have reached by November last year.
Memeti also gave a forecast for economic growth this year. According to him, this increase will be about 3.2 percent.
“You know that the pandemic has been one of the factors that have affected economic activity negatively further this year, where we had an economic decline during pandemic of 5.2 percent, after pandemic we have a significant economic growth of 10.75 percent, and this year we have economic growth, and our estimates are that it will be growth to 3.2 percent, influenced by many factors and the measures taken by the Kosovo government”, he said.
Mehmeti has spoken briefly about his failure to include him as governor of the CEC. He said this belongs to institutions, but that he will respect any decision.
This case belongs to the panel, the commission, the presidential Assembly and so on, whatever decision will be made I am to respect”, he said.
