In today's agenda of the European Parliament's Committee for Civil Freedoms, Justice and Home Affairs, the visa liberalisation vote for Kosovo will take place around 12:00, while reporting the Dutch Eurodeput, Thijs Reuten, who is the European Parliament's rapporteur for visa liberalisation for Kosovo. This has been confirmed for Radio Kosovo, European Parliament spokesman Ojamo Janne. Meanwhile, the latest visa vote will take place at the plenary session, to be held 18 April by the European Parliament.

The EU Council of Ministers, on 9 March, had approved the first visa-free movement for Kosovo citizens. The next procedure was delivered to the Commission for Civil Freedoms, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) for a vote again.

Voting the visa liberalisation file for Kosovo was scheduled for yesterday, but this was put on today's LIBE agenda.

In the agenda published by the European Parliament, the point for Kosovo is the first to be considered today. On January 12th of this year, LIBE had voted for visa liberalisation. Meanwhile, for the second vote to take place today, Ojamo said this procedure must take place again.

For visa liberalisation, the European Parliament will also vote, where, under a draft agenda, this is expected on April 18th. After voting even in the EP, the remaining steps for this process are:

The legal act must be signed by representatives of EU institutions: The European Commission, the European Council, the European Commission and the European Parliament. The decision must be published in the official newspaper and visa liberalisation comes into force in the deadline agreed on by January 1st 2024.
