Janjiq: Valley Albanians, problem Vuciqi must face

After another visit to Washington and numerous diplomatic activities they have had in Congress and Senate, political representatives of Albanians from southern Serbia still expect the issue of the Presevo Valley to be included in the process of negotiations between Kosovo and Serbia. Dusan Janjic, president of the Forum for Ethnic Relations in Belgrade, [...]
Dusan Janjic, chairman of the Forum for Ethnic Relations in Belgrade, thinks this is not realistic because according to him, “Serbia has its obligations regarding respect for minority rights regarding membership chapters 23 and 35 in negotiations with the European Union”.
Albanians claimed that their delegation to Washington, after another visit financed by the Government of Kosovo, has received the support of congressmen Jim Hymes and Richie Torres, and that a “brifing for Valley” was held in the Senate.
In its annual report on the state of human rights situation in Serbia for 2022, the State Department cites “employment problems, the destination of residence, education, hate speech and discrimination” as problems of the position of the Albanian community in southern Serbia.
“All of these are problems that Vuciqi has to face, because on the European road there will be problems dealing with the problems of the strategic application of minority policy, because Albanians have no cultural and linguistic autonomy, no reshuffle of the Co-ordination Body, for which there are relevant” documents, says Janijq, for “Danas”.
Ragmi Mustafa, acting as chairman of the Acting Organisation of the National Council of Albanians (KSHK), expresses satisfaction with the visit to Washington and expects the Albanian “problem of the Presevo Valley to find its place in the current negotiation process between [Kosovo and Serbia]” broadcasts.
“What belongs to Serbs in the north, we also expect in Bujanoc, Presevo and Medvedja, and we expect that from the international community, primarily from the US”, Mustafa says.
He does not comment on the fact that US special envoy Gabriel Escobar did not answer their “regularly their requests he listened carefully to”.
Representatives of the international community are now focusing attention on Ardita Sinani, member of Shaip Kamberi's Party for Democratic Action (PDD), who is former Presevo Community Chairman who is now serving as adviser to Pristina Prime Minister Albin Kurti for the Presevo Valley.
Current political events in southern Serbia are further illustrated by the fact that the minority councilors group of Serbs in the local parliament in Bujanoc, by failing to comply with the policy of the local Albanian majority, is increasingly giving up on participation in the job. Everything is happening despite the fact that, after a recent visit to this multiethnic municipality, President Aleksandar Vuciq said it is “ready for talks with Albanians”, but also that the “most of the money is distributed at the expense of Serbs”.
Tension, at least political, has never been missed here and is now growing by both sides -- by the Albanian side, which has local government permits, but also what is based on Belgrade's support.
“A is that the north of Kosovo has moved south [of Serbia] ”, Serbs and Albanians in the Presevo Valley ask.
In southern Serbia, despite current negotiations, no one expects a deterioration of the security situation, given KFOR's presence on the other side of the border line, as well as the careful “mimulation of the movement of goods and travellers” by Serbian police, as well as by O The SEU and the international community.
Analysts' estimates say “political directory” Shaip Kamberi's of the Party for Democratic Action (PDD) with Bosniaks, primarily Sulejman Ugljanin, is not a good move and will not rely on such a form by the international community, both the EU and the US.
“After the recent negotiations, the problem of Albanians in southern Serbia will be exclusively in the mechanism led by Aleksandar Vuciq and will be monitored by the EU and the US and Albanians at the moment cannot expect the issue of their position within Serbia will be resolved in the current negotiation agenda”, says Janjic.
