Gilas: If Kosovo to be part of UN entry discussions does not depend on Serbia

The leader of the Party for Freedom and Justice, Dragan Djilas, has said it does not depend on Serbia if the issue of Kosovo's membership in the United Nations is ever discussed in the Security Council and international organisations, but only on the interests of Russia and China. According to him, also at the General Assembly (OKB) it [...]

According to him, also at the General Assembly (OKB) that day for the vote to be held, it will depend on the will of half the countries to accept Kosovo into this organisation.

Djilas, who is Vucin's opponent, has the same attitude for Kosovo. According to him, it is his and his party's position that “Kosovo and Metohia are integral parts of Serbia, and that Serbia should never recognise Kosovo's independence nor vote for its entry into the UN”.

Speaking to some points of the Kosovo-Serbia agreement, Djilas said it would be all right if the documents issued by Pristina “authority “are recognized because Serbia already recognises the documents and registrations.

He said that the Ohrid Agreement has become an integral part of Serbia's 35th European integration chapter, but according to him it has the right not to vote on it if it is presented to the UN.

Djilas estimated that rejection of this poor “plan” -- which the EU and the US consider acceptable -- would be very bad for Serbia and would lead to isolation, severe economic consequences and further population ecstasy.

Asked whether Serbia can enter the EU until it recognises Kosovo's independence, Djilas claims such a requirement does not exist and that today there are some EU member states that have not recognised Kosovo's independence.

“One of them is Spain, which will not recognise Kosovo for its reasons and arguments” said Djilas suggesting that no word in this agreement is spoken about recognising independence from Serbia.

He said he does not expect the five EU nations or any state in the world to recognise Kosovo because of this agreement.

According to Djilas, the “agreement is bad”, because Aleksandar Vuciq negotiated and managed this agreement himself.

“This is a defeat of that political, defeat of the fact that someone thought that he could decide everything himself, the defeat of the lies Vucic has committed for 10 years, and thinking that we are defeating Kosovo at any step” he stressed on Vojvodina television.

Gilas: Negotiations with the EU with us will be over for four years

Djilas has made a pledge saying that his party will complete negotiations on European Union membership after four years. And they also claim that after that it takes them two more years to ratify the EU parliament membership treaty, which means Serbia will become a member of the European Union in 2030, said the chairman, Dragan Dilias for TV Nova S, the SP reports.
