French Ambassador to Kosovo Olivier Guerot has said the agreement discussed at the February 27th meeting in Brussels, between Kosovo and Serbia, could be a historic moment for both countries, Online Economy reports.
The “is a very promising time, it is a real opportunity for there to be a concrete progress in normalising Kosovo-Serbia”.
The agreement discussed on February 27th has the potential to be a historic moment for both countries. It is something very positive and in Kosovo's interest as state”.
Guerot has further demanded from the opposition of Kosovo, the same as the Government, that the formation of association be viewed differently, as well as to assess EU and US efforts for dialogue.
Kosovo is a democratic country and it is normal for the position and opposition to be at odds on various issues. We, as asked by the Government of Kosovo, demand the same from the opposition to look at the issue of Association with a different eye, see the large ʹfotography and appreciate the efforts the international community is making for Kosovo and Serbia”.
Asked whether Serbia would accept such an agreement, Guerot said it cannot certainly say such a thing, but that the agreement would undoubtedly be in Serbia's interest as well.
“Hopefully there will be a deal, but it is not up to me to say whether Serbia will sign it or not, it is the task of Lajcak's team and the two parties negotiating”.
The important thing for us is to have political will, and we are constantly trying to encourage both countries to show their flexibility and accept the plan”, Guerot reported.
