French Ambassador: If there is no agreement, European integration path is difficult

French Ambassador to Pristina Olivier Guerot has said he expects Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq since 18 March to show flexibility and reach agreements on the annex defining the process of implementing the EU plan. If this does not happen, the road to European integration will become much more [...]
If this does not happen, the path towards European integration will become much harder for both sides, he says.
The European Union's proposal, which was first known as the Franco-German proposal, is a joint effort and no one in particular has the copyright, the ambassador says, saying that as a result of its implementation, ordinary citizens will have concrete benefits in many areas.
We expect the prime minister of Kosovo and the president of Serbia to show flexibility and reach an agreement on the annex that determines the process of implementing the European proposal. We expect the flexibility and dedication of Prime Minister Kurti in forming association, as agreed earlier in Brussels.
Kosovo and its population, which community they are, would have concrete benefits from the agreement in many areas, where there would be concrete progress: reducing tensions, increasing security, improving the authenticity of all Kosovo for investors. The mutual knowledge of all national documents and symbols is just one example of how an agreement can improve the daily life of each”, he says.
But what if there is no agreement on March 18. Guerot says that if that happens, the path towards European integration would become much more difficult for both countries.
These are difficult topics and these are the reasons why we strongly support EU mediation, to advance and avoid repetition of tensions. The road towards European integration would become much more difficult for both countries”, he has said of Kossev.
