Kosovo's ambassador to Sweden, Scytheje Geci, on the 24th anniversary of NATO's intervention, has shared its personal history when it had to release Kosovo on the same day that the bombings began.
She indicated that during the day with her daughter at her side who was still walking across the border with Macedonia, until evening she heard news of the launch of the bombing.
It was the 24th March 1999, the day I was forced to leave home with my daughter, who had not yet taken the first steps. With great difficulty, we managed to cross the border with Macedonia. That very evening, NATO began bombing Yugoslav targets. After four months, we and Kosovo enjoyed freedom”.
The ambassador has also shared a picture of her and her daughter from this period.
