Citizens of the Pristina region may soon be paying the money bills at increased prices. Currently, the billing for waste disposal is a fixed fee of 4.7 euros. Regional waste company “Cleaning” says operating costs have increased significantly, so the expensive cost of this service is necessary. Also, they say workers' salaries could be revised. Against this proposal are citizens who say their lives have become extremely difficult.

The spokeswoman for “Cleaning”, Ademi, declares for Kosovo that they are self-finance companies so they need to increase prices to cope with the expenses.

“The company self-finance means that all income is provided to us through citizen payments and on the other side of each product has price increases, there is obvious inflation in our country, then increased derivatives, increased parts for spare trucks and every other product has increases. On the other hand, workers' salaries have not moved and waste bills remain the same, and given these facts mentioned we have certainly seen the need to make the demand for increased bills”, Ademiaj said.

The decision to raise the price of the waste bill should get the approval of the Communist states of the Pristina region's municipalities, which cover “Cleaning”.

However, Ademi said they have not received any official answers, although he adds that the proposal is to become a symbolic growth, without specifying it.

Public Services Director in the Pristina municipality Iliric Musliu told Kosova Preris that any decision to change waste bill taxes will be made only after a financial analysis is made.

Citizens, however, oppose rising the price of a waste bill.

Ismet Hulaj, one of them, said that with prices rising, their lives are getting worse.

“For the conditions which Kosovo exists, what Kosovo's population has income, should not increase. Otherwise they only load and damage the living standards of Kosovo citizens”, Hulaj said.

Wessel Vessel also said there could be no increase in bills without increased revenues.

This decision is difficult for most of our families, given the budget to family members. To be able to cope with these needs to raise the personal income of those who work and pensions of those who are retired and social aid to beat the population to meet these strains... It's affordable to most of our families. We know what social situations they are... without creating the conditions, raising personal bases, pensions, social aid, improving the budget for families, and charging them. That seems too much”, Veselin said.

Citizens Haxhi Sadiku said raising waste bills is beyond compare for them.

They've grown enough, and they want to grow... I'm looking at it very badly because the bills are growing and the income isn't growing at all, especially bad for the retirees... Too unaffordable is too bad. Increase current, increase waste, water, tax, disaster... The fault is, who can have anything but government? You and I are not at fault but government”, Sadiku stressed.
