The Kosovo government has proposed that electricity tariffs increase only for businesses, until for consumers, the price will remain unchanged. This will cause automatism businesses to increase the price of products, the chairman of the Association “Consumator”, Selatin Kacanic, estimates for Radio Kosovo. He says the government is not dealing with the cause of the problem.
“Pubitives such as this one, like that of the previous legislature, have done nothing more to transform this budget into a performance budget, where citizens would not be endangered either by direct price raising, this time electricity prices, or by indirect raising as it is now through businesses that they would still compensate by blowing the final prices for the citizens<1>, Kacanic said.
Citizens interviewed by Radio Kosova estimate that this way will further make their basket poor. Some of them say raising electricity tariffs will negatively affect their economic budget.
Any growth affecting businesses increases the prices of other products that are too big for us. An expensive cost to us and is done without our desire. Like. If we've taken 20 euros in products before, you can't get these products without 30 to 35 euros today. This is very expensive if it happens, it harms citizens and very expensive”, he said.
Meanwhile, Economy Professor Veli Lecaj, speaking to Radio Kosovo, says that if this happens, with automatism it will even raise prices in the productivity sector.
The rising price of the business “has raised the cost of living for other consumers. It would be good for this price for power kilowatts to be maintained for a certain time, whether for business or even consumers, at least by the end of the year. I think consumers find it very difficult to withstand”, Lecaj said.
The proposal to raise energy tariffs to businesses, the government has submitted it to the Energy Regulatory Office for the tariff process, which is expected to be completed at the end of this month.
