The Serbian list, which enjoys the greatest voter support in these areas by nearly 90 percent, did not eventually register to participate in mayoral elections with municipal assemblies.
“The Central Election Commission reports that the deadline for the application of political subjects and candidates wanting to participate in the extraordinary mayoral elections has been completed: Northern Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Leposaviq, and early elections for municipal municipalities: Zvecan and Leposaviq, which will be held on April 23rd 2023”, CEC spokesman Valmir Elesi announced.
“During 14-day application period (March 9th, March 22nd 2023) The CEC has not accepted any application from any political subject” (Enter Insader).
The Serbian list has said that their condition for participation in the elections remains to establish the Association of Serb majority municipalities, as well as the withdrawal of special police units from those areas.

The Serbian List's “representatives clearly stated that our party remained consistent in its stance that it would not participate in the upcoming early local elections in municipalities in northern Kosovo, until demands have been met that led us to leave Kosovo institutions, which is the formation of the Serbian Communists Association and the withdrawal of all special Pristina units from the north of Kosovo”, Serbian List said yesterday in a statement.
Meanwhile, Monday 13 March was the deadline for officially announcing (not) participation in extraordinary elections in the country's four northern municipalities.
The Serbian list, though through a Facebook paper, has said that “does not participate” in elections in four municipalities.
Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq, after a meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, on March 18th in Ohrid, said the elections in the north could be postponed for June.
I will not speak on behalf of the Serbian List. I just need to talk to those people. I need to see whether [the elections] should be held now or in June, we will see”, Vuciq said.
For association, meanwhile, Kosovo and Serbia were hired in 2013. It envisions that Kosovo Serbs have “full jurisdiction” in specific areas, such as spatial planning, health, education, economic development and so forth.
