During Begaj's joint conference and Alexander Van der Bellen, among other things, Kosovo-Serbia relations were discussed.
“On no occasion, in any circumstances as president of the Republic of Albania I would not agree to have a Republika Srpska in Kosovo, and neither is it supported by the US, who are a strategic partner of ours. I believe that under that agreement, where, under a self-awareness or findings... with community rights under the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, I believe it will be the right solution.”, President Begaj said.
The Austrian president supported this statement. He praised the two countries' efforts as he spoke of his country's hopes towards this new format of dialogue.
I just support what President Begaj said, negotiations in Ohrid and how to call it now, under the direction of Mr. Borrell or with his participation, I think it could be a fundamental stone in the process... let's not call it reconciliation, but in the process of normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia.”, Van der Bellen said.
President Alexander Van der Bellen has launched a state visit to Albania at the invitation of President Bajram Begaj.
