The issue of the chief state prosecutor has remained in the reins of the Kosovo Presidency.
President Vjosa Osmani has not decreed it for this position and is not planning to do so without draining all judicial procedures.
Former state chief prosecutor Alexander Lumezi has spoken about the case, who says the prosecution has no time to wait.
“State Procurory has no time to wait, in several days it will become a year that has been submitted by the KKP to the president of state for the decree of the chief state prosecutor and we still do not have the finalisation of this process”, says Lumez
Lumez urges President Osmani to respect the assessment of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, decreeing the candidate they have proposed.
The “Proposal of the KPK, which is the sole assessment and measure of the integrity and professionalism of the candidate candidate candidate, should be respected by the president and, as soon as the end of the judicial procedures has had to be appointed the new State Chief Prosecutor, respecting constitutional competencies to ensure the harmonious functioning of the prosecution's body, which is independent with authority and responsible for prosecuting alleged persons for carrying out any criminal work”, said former State Prosecutor Alexander Lumez
Lumez for Front Online expressed optimism that the country's president will serve justice.
“
The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council had unanimously voted for Blerim Isufajn for the new State Chief Prosecutor.
Isufaj has received the absolute votes of 11 KKP members.
But his vote at the prosecution's helm is being rejected by foreign ambassadors to Kosovo and local organisations.
That is because they claim that the principles of a righteous and meriting process have been ignored.
We remember that the competition for the appointment of the new State Chief Prosecutor was announced by the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council on January 12th, 2022, after Alexander Lumez completed his mandate on April 21st, 2022.
