According to the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), healthy people are not at risk from infection called Candida auris.
But those with a weak immune system or those using medical equipment as ventilators or katheter may even lose their lives.
Most of the cases tested were immune to anti-mycotic treatment, and for this reason the CDC has called it an emergency “threat of anti-commercial resistance”.
Symptoms:
The most common symptoms are fever and trembling that do not improve after treatment. The infection was first reported in the United States in 2016, but the fastest increase in cases was reported from 2020 to 2021.
Growing concerns:
Another disturbing reason was the addition of the cases that became <x0-resistant to ekinodins”, which is the most recommended antimycotic drug to treat infection.
The CDC attributed the increase in the number of reported cases to poor prevention of infection in health care institutions.
