Abazovic praised all participants in the election process for their political correctness and very constructive approach in recent days, with particular emphasis on James Milatovic, who has support for a victory in the second round.

The entire campaign course, election day and final announcement of the results of presidential elections, according to Abazovic, presents a major victory for democracy in Montenegro.

“No tension, with conciliatory rhetoric, in a short and relaxed campaign, Montenegro showed its European face. Citizens fearlessly voted for their favourites and said without a doubt they want new president”, Abazovic has said.

Presidential elections held on 19 March in Montenegro did not bring the winner to the first round.

The current president, candidate of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) simultaneously, Milo Djukanovic will face the second round with Movement Europe candidate Jakov Milatovic.

Djukanovic managed to secure 35.2% of the vote, but that result was insufficient to ensure victory in the first round. Meanwhile, Djukanovic's rival, Milatovic, has secured 29.2% of the vote.
