257 police officials were investigated during 2022 by the Kosovo Police Inspectorate, while 100 were arrested and 164 were recommended for suspension.
The head of the IPK, the Hodaj Objection during Tuesday's Security and Defence Affairs Commission has made this known.
Presenting the annual labour report for 2022, Hodaj said they focus on fighting corruption within the Kosovo Police. Hodaj said there are also large numbers of complaints by citizens.
“The IPK during 2022 has completed a number of activities. The IPK has continued to work on increasing confidence in the police. IPK investigators have reached the task number. Focusing on IPK has been fighting corruption in the police. We have 1697 civil complaints. We investigated 257 police officers in the prevention area, arrested 108 employees, recommended the suspension of 164 police officers. 12 inspections, checked hundreds of files and a number of interviews. We published 60 communiques”, he said, EO.
The chairman of this Berisha commission, has asked Hodaj about a competition for Police for Near Protection Units, where after having passed all procedures they have not been accepted in that competition.
“For the Near Defence Unit, there has been a complaint in the competition. Procedures have been carried out, and after procedures someone has influenced them from accepting, or political influence. The second is police servilism, and these are too many and we have complaints. There are many complaints of corruption in the investigations, there are multiple injustices, loss of evidence and failure to implement investigations”, he said.
Hodaj said that for complaints in the competition for admission to the Near Defence Unit, an investigation has been conducted.
“As far as the competition for Near Protection Unit, we have conducted an investigation. As far as concrete cases are concerned, I don't have the latest information on the case, because it's a large number of cases I'm dealing with. I know there's been an investigation, except for the recruiting stages, there's also a phase in the past, so they've had a past. I know this is the case. At the third question, we try to address”, he said.
