Turkey's president, Rexhep Tayip Erdogan, has indicated that over 214 thousand buildings have collapsed or been seriously damaged by last month's devastating earthquakes in the south.
By this moment, we have defined 608 thousand independent sectors in 214 thousand buildings that have collapsed or been seriously damaged and will fall”, Erdogan said.
Erdogan stressed that once damage assessments are completed, the number of new residential buildings and houses to be built in earthquake-affected cities will also be announced, writes Anadolu.
He also announced that the new buildings would not be higher than three or four floors.
We aim to revive our ancient cities by keeping our historical and cultural assets alive and also to reinforce them against disasters”, Erdoğan said.
As a result of two February 6th quakes, with a magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6 on Kahramanmaraş, lost their lives on over 45 thousand people while affecting over 13 million people in 11 provinces.
