Turkey just moments ago has been hit by two more earthquakes with less destructive powers - the third, 5.0 magnitude, and the fourth, 5.1.
As a result of the serious situation, Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, in the quality of the Supreme Commander, in accordance with its constitutional competencies, has signed authorisation for sending Kosovo Security Force troops to international humanitarian operation in the Republic of Turkey to support Turkish authorities' efforts to overcome the tragic consequences of today's earthquakes.
“President Osmani has expressed full solidarity with the people of Turkey and has declared that the Republic of Kosovo will continue to provide the necessary support”, the report said.
Hundreds are believed to be still trapped under rubble, and the number of victims is expected to increase.
Rescue workers are continuing their search between ruins in towns and villages throughout the area.
Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan said earlier that 5,400 people have been injured, while another 2.470 have been removed from the ruins.
Close to 3,000 buildings have collapsed, he said.
Because the removal of the ruins is continuing in many buildings located in the earthquake area, we do not know how much the number of those killed and injured” will increase, Erdogan said.
He said he received help from some 45 countries in the world. About 9,000 are participating in rescue operations.
Officials in Syria have also reported on thousands of injured persons.
According to Turkey authorities, ten Turkish cities have been affected by the earthquake. They are: Gaziantep, Kahramanmarashi, Hatai, Osmanije, Adjamana, Malta, Chanliurfa, Adana, Diyarbakir and Chiles.
In Syria, according to authorities there, the quake struck the provinces of Alepo, Latakia, Hama, and Tartus. /Periscopi/
