For seven days together with Shkelzen, Bujar and other members of the Albanian Civil Emergency Centre volunteer, they searched under the ruins. They were looking for life, but fate only wanted to find victims. and these moments are still on their minds.
We found only victims... I was deeply hurt when we found father and son who had thrown his arm on him; his father, the child under him. Then I lost it, I cried, I was helped by Turkish soldiers, I couldn't stand it in”, says Bujar Rropa, part of the volunteer team.
It was very painful not to give them a hope that people could get them alive, but it was impossible”, relates Shkelzen Shatri, part of the Mountain volunteer team.
Hope did not fade. And every day began with prayers for life.

The mission in Malta was closed, but the volunteers who served brought the pain.
I have returned with a broken heart; half of the pain I have left in Turkey, and half have taken with myself”, says Nebi Mucaj, director of the volunteer Civil Emergency Centre.
In Malta, 280 5-story buildings were destroyed and hundreds of victims were registered.
