Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Donika Grovalla-Schwarz has met with Latvia's non-resident ambassador to Kosovo, Elita Kuzma, who has been discussing the September 24th terrorist attack on Zvecan Bay, where Sergeant Africa Buxaku was killed.
“Minist Gervala briefed Serbia's continued threats and aggression against Kosovo, which culminated in the September 24th terrorist attack. Kosovo will defend its territorial integrity, and together with allied, partner and friend countries commit to maintaining the stability of the region, aiming also at normalising relations with Serbia, Grovalla”, the MPJD media report said.
Minister Gervala stressed that the Republic of Kosovo and Latvia join common values and that the two countries have faced similar challenges in their journey to freedom and independence.
“During the meeting, there was agreement that bilateral relations between the two countries further deepen, until Ambassador Cuzma reaffirmed the steadfast support of the Republic of Latvia for the Republic of Kosovo on its Euro-Atlantic integration path”.
For the terrorist attack on 24 September, Kosovo has directly charged Serbia, until Milan Radojicic, the close person of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, took responsibility.
Western countries, including the United States and the European Union, have condemned in the harshest terms the terrorist attack on Banja, while demanding that those responsible be brought to justice, but also unconditional co-operation in the process on the part of Serbia.
Kosovo has demanded from the EU that sanctions be imposed on Serbia because of this attack, but for such a thing by the Union have stressed they will decide after the investigation is completed.
On the other hand, Serbia has not distanced himself from this event at all, rather, it has been declared a national mourning day in honour of killed terrorists.
