Former Defence Minister Andmend Mehaj, on the occasion of Kosovo Liberation Army veterans' day, has said this is a significant date in our newest history.
Mejaj, among other things, congratulated all veterans, mentioning the martyrs of the nation and the disabled of war.
This day, on the note of December 30th, I wish from my heart all veterans, not forgetting the martyrs of the nation and the disabled of war who gave everything to our Kosovo”, Mehaj wrote in his Facebook account.
“Precisely on December 30th 1991, the numerous Serbian military and police forces would take military action against Adam Jashar and his family, who fought heroicly by forcing Serbian forces to withdraw”.
Therefore, in memory of this war and our efforts for freedom, liberation and independence from the Serbian state, efforts these years and decades, today we mark veterans' day, which is the weight date in our new history”, the former defence minister wrote further.
He argued that our struggle and efforts for Kosovo's freedom, liberation and independence are our long and challenging journey, which must be finalised with Kosovo's NATO membership.
The destruction of this date, as well as the closure of 2023, for Kosovo in general and me in particular means many, because for the first and only time yet, the KSF was equipped with modern weapons from many NATO states and we have bought the most modern weapons, Drons Bajrakt, bought with the Kosovo budget, and thanks to our vision of dedication during the leadership of the Government's defence ministry and the money support”.
He stressed that the fears of many other equipment purchased by friendly countries are the retaliatory sacrifice of the Kosovo Albanian people, the Yasar family of many boys and girls around Kosovo who served with dignity in the KLA, then in the KPC, and now at KSF.
“Today, on this day I don't want to forget all those Kosovo Police members, who have honored them and are continuing to serve their homeland, and more and more are making us proud”.
Our heroic and historical commander, Adem Jashar, will always remain our military leader and best example of how the homeland should be served. From the heart I wish all Kosovo veterans for their merit day”.
