Gregory Keohe, former President Hashim Thaci's principal lawyer, says he will try to free his client once the prosecution wraps up its part of presenting evidence in the trial.
Keohe said the prosecution's evidence is powerless.
I think I'm going to try to get the president out once the Proquiria completes the evidence submission and I hope to win the motion, not have what to answer. So far I don't see any power in the evidence the prosecution has, which connects with President Thaci”, the lawyer for Nacional said.
Keohe said it is difficult to talk about how long defence investigations will last.
But if we have to continue with the defense, we have to present the case. However, it is difficult to speak at this stage. I'm holding back because if I give you a deadline, I really don't know what the Prosecutor will bring to answer, but if we are forced to present our evidence”, he said.
The lawyer cited a <x0val of international witnesses” who said they would testify in favour of Thaci during the trial.
“We have a wave of international witnesses who will speak for President Thaci. They will testify to the fact that President Thaci, especially after the war, has tried to bring peace and reconciliation to Kosovo, the person who has tried to convince Serbs not to leave, someone who pushed the idea of a multiethnic society...”, Keohe said.
The lawyer said Thaci did these “just days after the war”.
While regarding the prosecution's evidence taken from Serbia, Keohe said that “these are serious concerns from all four of us defence teams that we have”.
