In the margin of this forum, he also has meetings with several Balkan leaders. He first started with Northern Macedonia Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski, while later expected to meet with Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

For meeting with O'Brien, Kovachevski said he talked to him about the government's foreign policy priorities and the report between two states.

O'Brien will also meet with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, the president of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic.

Earlier, the US State Department announced that O'Brien will travel to Paris, France and Brussels, Belgium, from November 9th to November 14, 2023.

“While in Paris, he will participate in the Paris Peace Forum and meet with French political director Frederic Mondollon and other French officials to discuss regional and global challenges. Assistant Secretary O'Brien will also meet with European leaders, including Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, Armenian Prime Minister Pasinyan, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Montenegrin President Milatovic and Northern Macedonia Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski to discuss regional and bilateral issues”, the UN communique emphasises.

James O'Brien was appointed to this post on October 5th of this year.
