Kurt sends letters to O'S Chief SBE: No Serbia elections in Kosovo without agreement

For the Serb community to participate in elections in Serbia must have a separate agreement, Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said in letter to Mission Chief O The SEU in Kosovo, Michigan Davenport. Kurti has said this agreement should come from Serbia as an interested party based on sovereignty and independence [...]
“connected with the same, and on the issue of interstate co-operation for voting abroad, in order to enable citizens of the Serb community in Kosovo with dual citizenship to vote in Serbian elections outside Serbia's Interconnecting Office in Kosovo, a special agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia is needed. The demand for this agreement should come from Serbia as an interested party”, Kurti's letter said.
Next, Kurti, listing certain conditions, has encouraged Serbia to negotiate a special agreement with Kosovo, “thus implementing another basic Agreement obligation: to contribute to good neighbourly relations”.
“About holding Serbia's elections on the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, let me draw attention to the new legal framework, which is built on the best European and international practices. In terms of the same, and on the issue of interstate co-operation for voting abroad, in order to enable citizens of the Serb community in Kosovo with dual citizenship to vote in Serbian elections outside Serbia's Interconnecting Office in Kosovo, a special agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia is needed. The demand for this agreement should come from Serbia as an interested party. And any such demand should be taken on the basis of Kosovo's sovereignty and independence, as an equal state, in line with Article 2 of the Base Agreement reached this year between Kosovo and Serbia. With these conditions we encourage Serbia to negotiate such a special agreement with the Republic of Kosovo, thereby implementing another obligation of the Base Agreement: to contribute to good neighbourly relations, on the basis of equal rights and mutual respect of voters' rights abroad”, the chief executive's letter to the OSCE chief says.
