Israeli forces enter central Gaza hospital

Six tanks and over 100 Israeli soldiers are reported to have entered the Al-Shifa hospital space in Gaza.

As the BBC writes, eyewitnesses have said Israeli forces have entered the main hospital emergency department.

I saw six tanks inside the hospital and more than 100 soldiers. They entered the main emergency department, some of the soldiers were undercover and shouted: “don't move, don't move”.”, the witness said.

The White House has also reacted, saying they do not support the attack on Al-Shifa Hospital.

“We don't want to see shots fired at a hospital where innocent people, helpless people, sick people trying to get the medical care they deserve, have been caught in the middle of the fire”, a spokesman for the White House National Security Council said, BBC.

On the other hand, it is known that American President Joe Biden had a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In a statement, the White House said the two leaders “widely discussed continuing efforts to ensure the release of hostages held by Hamas, including many children and a number of American citizens”.

The attack on Al-Shifa Hospital comes just hours after the US for the first time said its intelligence backed Israeli claims that Hamas has placed a command centre at Al-Shifa Hospital, a claim that was repeatedly rejected by the Gaza governing group.

For these comments, Hamas has blamed the White House, saying the American president is along with Israel “fully responsible” for the attack, adding that US intelligence comments have given “to the green” Israel to launch its attack.
