US Ambassador Jeffrey Havenier will speak today at a news conference at 10:20 on the draft Association of Serb majority municipalities.
The conference announcement has come from the US Embassy in Kosovo.
The “Ambassador today at 10:20 before the American Embassy will address the media and speak of the constitutionality of the MAS draft status station”, the report says.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti has singled out “in comparison more advanced” draft for the Association of Serb majority municipalities proposed by the European Union and the United States of America than previous agreements. However, it has added that this does not mean that Kosovo is satisfied with the content of the draft.
European Commission president (KE), Ursula von der Leyen, has said that it is important for Kosovo now to move towards implementing the obligation to form the Association of Serb majority municipalities, and that will be a major step forward. Formation of association, it has linked it to Kosovo's aspirations towards EU membership.
After the recent meetings in Brussels on 26 October, which Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's president Aleksandar Vuciq had with the leaders of France, Germany, Italy, as well as with European Council President Charles Michel, in the presence of the EU's senior foreign political and security representative Josep Borrell, was told that both leaders had accepted as a good basis for discussions on the proposed draft.
Kosovo's prime minister had said he had offered that this draft, as well as the basic agreement and the Annex for implementation of the Ohrid Agreement, be signed. EU High Representative Borrell had said that “the sides, who were unacceptable to the other side, were obstacle to reconciliation”. But in a joint statement following the EU summit, the leaders of the three largest states extend the invitation for Kosovo to begin establishing the Association of Serb majority municipalities, while from Serbia to achieve recognition of Kosovo's de facto.
