Kosovo Police General Director Gazmend Hoxha and representatives of the Kosovo Police Units have reached the Kosovo Government facility, where they will meet with Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

As media reports, 3 cars with about ten police officers have arrived so far.

Special units' requests for risk extensions are expected to be addressed at this meeting

Otherwise, disappointments over the additions of risklessness have led to the streets, two weeks ago, members of Kosovo Police's Most Elite Units, Special Intervention Unit (NJSI) and Explosive Tool Treatment Units (NJTME).

Dressed in uniforms but without weapons, they protested before the Kosovo Government object with three main demands: classification as individual entities and involvement in the expert list, risk being determined to 50 per cent of the basic wage and to have additionals for specific working conditions.

Another protest was warned by them last Tuesday (07.11.23), but police announced that the protest was temporarily suspended that day. That decision came after Prime Minister Albin Kurti promised them an official meeting to discuss their demands and to find a solution.

Following the protest that held these two units before the Kosovo Government target, Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Svechla were declared regarding their demands, via posts on Facebook.

Kurti said that 27 percent of members of the police have had more than 1,000 euros a month, adding that there are 203 police officers this year who have had even higher incomes than President Vjosa Osmani.

” We live in Kosovo, where BPV per capita per month is about 460 euros. This year, 2,134 Kosovo police officers, or nearly 27%, received more than 1,000 euros per month on average. There are 203 Kosovo police officers who received higher revenues this year than the president of the Republic (1.890 euros gross, cofficiency 18), and in June and July were about 700 Sosh (which certainly include the absolute majority of NSIA members)”, Kurti wrote in his post.

Meanwhile, Minister Svecla said there are policemen whose average monthly income is more than 2,000 and 200 euros.

The “for us has always been aimed at improving working conditions, providing equipment that protects the police official's life, as well as their dignified and fair treatment, as opposed to earlier times, when compensation for additional commitments has not been implemented at all, we have compensated for them without delay. The average monthly income this year of officials protesting today is over 2,200 euros”, Svechla wrote.

Their statements prompted numerous reactions in public opinion, as under the Law for the Salat, the high police receive a base salary of only 619 euros.

The head of the Kosovo Police Union, Imer Zeqiri, had clarified that such pay can only be achieved in light of additional hours.

Whatever his rank is, whether it's a cop, a sergeant or a lieutenant inside this unit. If we take a senior policeman who has a 5.9 current salary is 619 euros and when it's estimated that this unit before law implementation and wages has additional risk for 215 euros and plus 100 euros with a government decision is down to 315 euros, additional since wage implementation has never equaled”, he has declared.
