The census, which would have to begin in September this year, was then postponed by the Government of Kosovo for November 1st, has not started today, although there is no decision to postpone this process. Do not start the registration process has confirmed for Radio Kosovo chief executive chief of the Kosovo Statistics Agency, Ilir Berisha, who says the census will begin once the license is secured.
The decision to register the population from November 1st to December 15th remains in effect. This is the government's last decision. The pills haven't come yet. We are waiting to secure the tablets, and then we will go out and proceed with the census in the municipalities”, he said.
Asked whether the registration process will last for as many days as will begin late, ASK Chief Chief Chief Ilir Berisha has said the government, which makes decisions, should be asked about. Radio Kosovo has asked Government whether it has provided the necessary keys to ASS, and when is the census expected to begin? But the prime minister's office has not answered.
Meanwhile, that the census would begin from today had confirmed Prime Minister Albin Kurti, questioned the media conference following the government's October 27th meeting.
“We have issued the decision to start the census on November 1st, and for now we have no other decision”, the prime minister has said.
ASF has long ago said preparations for the registration process have been conveyed with challenges, and among them has been the small number of candidates interested in the census. This number would have to be about three thousand and 500, but it hasn't been completed.
The last census in Kosovo was done in 2011. According to this census, the total number of residents in Kosovo was 1 million and 773 thousand and 971.
Not included were residents of Serb majority municipalities in northern Kosovo, who had rejected the process.
