Budget for 2024 The economists' opposition: It's developmental, it doesn't respond to the demands of many sectors.

MPs from opposition and economist parties have estimated that next year's budget of over 3 billion euros could be greater compared to past years, but that it cannot be called developmental in view of high inflation and the rising prices of many products.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) have called fraud to civil servants the increase of five percent of the public sector's wage cofficiency with the Bill.

Ferat Shala, chairman of the Commission for Economy, Industry, Undertaking and Market once and for all MP The PDK, said the budget divided for 2024 would have to be feasible in all categories, both at the central and local level, and according to him, not only enough.

He said concern about this draft budget is the way of separation, the way of classification and planning.

Shala added that the question of a five per cent wage increase in public sector wage cofficiency is out of real parameters, comparing it with the inflation rate.

The five percent issue of pay raise is outside real parameters compared to the rate of inflation and the social requirements that have been in this calendar year. We in this relationship have had completely separate positions by the government and consider that here we have big mistakes as regards the issue of wage growth and the public sector, but also in the private sector”, he said.

AAK deputy Paul Lekaj has said that the budget allocated for 2024 is not in favour of economic development and does not support entrepreneurs.

He has been critical of the five - percent increase in pay for civil servants, a fraud that he does not respond to their demands.

It's a budget that doesn't go in favour of economic development, there are no positions that support entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized. It doesn't support public officials, it's a five percent increase that's the fraud of this government, and in general if we take public money's frustration in these three years I think even 2024 will be the year of failure because we say the good day looked up in the morning. And those who have done nothing three years without a capital investment can't be seen on the 481x> horizon.

This is fraud, it's minimal value and if we take it in terms of priceling things, it's not about the demands of officials or civil servants”, he said.

The former head of the Kosovo Economic Ode, Safet Gerjaliu, has said that given inflation and the raising of budget prices shared for 2024 will not be the development budget, according to him, this budget will be more of a social nature.

I've analyzed the budget in several dimensions and the definition of budget is warned as the largest budget compared to 2017, so that's more than 100m euros that will rise in 2024. But if we take into account the inflation that has dominated in 2023 and the price rise thanks to international events, then this cannot be called the development budget”.
