Wessel's defense requires that he question the witness at the open session
(altering, clock: 10:32 ) - As soon as Thursday's session begins, Kadri Wessel's defense attorney, Ben Emmerson, has demanded that his questions be addressed to the 30th witness in public session.
Emmerson's request was rejected by prosecutor Matt Halling, but Judge Charles Smith III approved the prosecution's request and the hearing continued closed, reports the “Justice Vow”.
I'm going to ask you first some extenuating questions on behalf of Kadri Veselin”, attorney Emmerson said.
But, prosecutor Halling reminded him that they're in public session “we're in public session, I want you to let them know”.
“Yes, I want to ask the witness at the open session, except for any extraordinary need to switch to private session”, Emmerson replied.
Halling said they sent you an e-mail showing that the 30th witness is protective.
So it is necessary that all questions and questions be asked at the private session”, the prosecutor continued the discussion.
However, Smith said he should be in private session.
I'm sorry, we have to go to private session. I understand you want this hearing to be public, but this witness is in protective measure and it should be considered”, he said.
Similarly, the chairman of the court reminded the witness that he is still under oath and must tell the truth.
Remember to tell us where you base your knowledge, facts, and circumstances for which you will give us answers. I remind you that you are still under oath to tell the truth”, the chairman of the court said.
Today's Seanca Jakup Krasniqi is conveying it through video connection, while the other indictees are in the courtroom.
