Former Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu claims the European Union is delaying to sanction Serbia. He considers certain factors are affecting this, however, adding that Serbia's September 24th aggression is now clear.

Sejdiu stresses that Kosovo deserves strong support and that it should not leave the dialogue. In the interview for Kosovo, the former head of state, states that the situation in the north is tense and that many factors have been influenced.

In the act of aggression of Serbia, where police sergeant Africa Bunnjak was killed, Sejdiu says the goal has been to violate Kosovo's integrity.

The “for us is important that this letter, or this card in which Serbia has played is absolutely a total decipheration of all projects Serbia has faced Kosovo. Therefore, it is too necessary to list all important political and security factors to meet other challenges.

Unfortunately, now an effective KP, Afrim Bulnjak, and the purpose of those who have aimed at destabilizing Kosovo, have been to kill others, and to have numerous victims, in order to promote parallelly before the democratic world and all others that there is no stability, that Kosovo has no future, that it is anything imagined, but it is not a real act of political forces and a state of walking with the goal that one day be a member of the EU<0>, he declares.

Sejdiu considers that from this event it should become clear to Serbia that Kosovo has unlimited borders and for their protection, internationals also guarantee.

“From what we've seen, it's a game that is guided by Russia's factor, because its goal lies with the war in Ukraine, its investments to tear down a democratic state such as Ukraine, has been to expand the conflict in other regions as well, and according to them, and according to what is consistently expressed are two or three Western Balkan or Southeast European countries, such as Kosovo, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Focusing on the evil investments they make in order to destabilise the countries mentioned above. For us it is very important to rush into the sense of quality for it after an end to this upcoming cycle of talks, Kosovo has chosen that the way of negotiations as the most direct way to resolve issues related to the relaxation of relations between the two countries, in no way, and in any situation the status issues, because the claim of Serbs is to have directly treatment of the basic frames of the state of Kosovo, and not to recognise Kosovo, as are the vows of Serbia's president, Vuciq”, he adds.

Despite a month of attack, Sejdiu does not rule out the possibility that such acts could occur again.

According to him, Serbia aims at destabilising Kosovo on behalf of the rights of the Serb minority, even positively discriminated against the current legislation.

“We should never believe that it has ended with such an act because it always aims that in Kosovo and in part there is no abundant realisation of human rights, human freedoms in the sense of the Serb community, and that it is the opposite because they have all the favour in principle of those who are located even in the Constitution of the Republic, so it is a positive discrimination, its goal is always the dialogue. So a dialogue that will be backed up again by the international factor that is initiated and interrupted”, Sejdiu points out.

He considers the European Union has been delayed in imposing punishable measures on Serbia, following terrorist attacks that took place on 24 September in Banjska.

There's a delay. There are many factors that deter such an action. It is always thought that with extreme analysis, the best response can be drawn, the answer is flat, it has appeared on the day of September 24th in the attack, in the northern part of the country, and after the destabilisation that has attempted to bring the Serb population into play, it is known.

Therefore, we should not worry in the sense of fear as if Serbs with this ambition to intimidate the population, but we must worry sometimes about the slow steps that have gone down so far because we have from the beginning of this cycle of talks from 2011 to now. Therefore, it should become that our side is co-operative as if it was, that means giving up the basic principles it has, and never can the issue of Kosovo's status be affected”, says Sejdiu.

Meanwhile, the punitive measures the EU has imposed on Kosovo, Sejdiu says they must be removed. However, he adds, Kosovo must carry out its duties.

He says Kosovo should not leave the negotiating table with Serbia.

There is much that should be looked at even with the share of those sanctions or punishment measures. Kosovo deserves strong support... It's important for us to do our homework, maintain this seriousness that Kosovo should have as an independent factor, and of course do very much work in the country's economic revival... Kosovo should not leave the properly supported dialogue, the fair dialogue that brings peace between the two countries”, concludes Sejdiu.
