The Jarinje border crossing, but also the one in Brnjak that is located in Serb-run northern Kosovo ʹ were closed by Kosovo authorities on 24 September, following armed attack on Kosovo police, which authorities in Pristina term a terrorist attack.

Authorities in Kosovo have blamed Serbia for the attack on Kosovo police on 24 September in Zvecan Banjska. In the attack by an armed Serb group, Sergeant Africa Bulnjak was killed.
Three attackers were killed during clashes between the armed group and police.
The responsibility for organising and leading the attack has been taken over by Milan Radoic, former deputy chairman of the Serbian List, the main party of Serbs in Kosovo who enjoys the support of official Belgrade.
The United States and the European Union have strongly condemned the attack, meanwhile Kosovo through a resolution adopted in the Assembly has called for international investigation into Serbia over the attack in Banjska.
Kosovo has asked the European Union to impose punitive measures on Serbia, meanwhile in the European bloc they have said they are waiting to complete the investigation and then decide on the steps and eventual steps.
