Miroslav Lajcak, the European Union's envoy for the Kosovo dialogue, Serbia, in a weekly summary of his agenda, has indicated the visit it has had to Kosovo and Serbia this week.
Lajcak and Imisars have also been involved in dialogue from the United States, Germany, France, and Italy.
For this joint visit, Lajcak has said progress on normalising relations must be advanced. He has called one of the conditions unacceptable.
The EU emissary has also written about the September 24th terrorist attack, which he has described as unprecedented. However, it says this event should not change the fact that Kosovo and Serbia have entered the Agreement on the road to normalisation earlier this year.
” I just returned from my joint visit to Kosovo and Serbia. I traveled together with leading foreign and security advisers of France, Germany and Italy, as well as US envoy for the Western Balkans Escobar. Both in Pristina and Belgrade, we have discussed with President Vuciq and Prime Minister Kurti how to advance normalisation of relations and make progress in implementing the agreement on the road to normalisation. The topic of the discussion was the security situation in northern Kosovo”.
” We highlighted the two leaders that the events of September 24th constitute a clear and unprecedented escalation, which also shows that both deceleration and normalisation are now more urgent than ever. Together with our partners, we remain united in condemning terrorist attacks and stress that all authors must be brought to justice, expecting full co-operation from Serbia in this direction”, Lajcak wrote on Facebook.
Furthermore, Lajcak has added that Kosovo and Serbia must fulfil the obligations of dialogue, while he has said that with Western ministers for dialogue, discussions will continue.
” The events of September 24th do not change the fact that Kosovo and Serbia have entered the agreement on the road to normalisation earlier this year. In our discussions, we have conveyed the expectation that Kosovo and Serbia will fully fulfil their obligations in the dialogue. Any conditions or delays are unacceptable. I thank my partners for this visit and will soon continue our discussions”, he said.
