Social Democrat Initiative Chairman Fatmir Limaj has said that following the September 24th attack on Zvecan Banjsk, Kosovo has entered a serious phase, while also viewing it as a test of spreading this attack to the international community, Online Economy reports.
Limaj has expressed concern about how Kosovo will manage to present this attack on the diplomatic level and Kosovo's commitment to moving towards peace.
While replacing the Kosovo Police with KFOR, Limaj considers it unacceptable.
In an interview for Online Economy, Limaj has asked the Government to convince the international factor for stability and for meeting problems with Serbia.
I'm worried about that day and what might come to the political plan. It is a serious phase for Kosovo, not an easy one. Scared of how much they could present the case properly, how they will be brought to the negotiating table, and how they can convince the international factor about what Serbia is and what it wants to do.
“Sa has to convince the international factor of Kosovo's commitment to moving towards peace. Our desire for stability and for meeting problems with Serbia. All of this makes me worried about what comes to us on the way, but from what I'm seeing, developments that I'm seeing from my political experience, it's not easy this phase that we're in. Things have gotten really complicated”
Speaking of the attack in the north, Limaj has declared Kosovo politics is on the latest test to show dexterity and seriousness with its commitments. And he has sought greater care from his arrogance and denied enthusiasm.
For the future as well as for the future of that part of the territory and the way it is closed. This has already gone to another phase. I believe that on Sunday the status quo is closed and a new phase of aggression opened, so Kosovo must change its policies. There must be a very different approach in relation to that part, Serbia, but also with the international factor. Kosovo more than ever should show maturity, discretion. Kosovo politics is on the latest test to show dexterity, seriousness with its commitments. The government must take care of arrogance, it must flee the enthusiasm it can suppress, but work hard and build a favourable position for Kosovo at the negotiating table, and this case has been given to Kosovo police”, Limaj said.
After the riots in the north, KFOR has increased the number of members at Bransika in Zvecan. But their role, the head of the Initiative, requires that it not be changed. Fatmir Limaj says it is a defeat for Kosovo to replace KFOR with the Police.
These are signals to me. First, increasing the number of KFOR forces is welcome to the point where they do not change their role. Kosovo police in action have shown not only that they have skills but that there is professionalism above all to carry out their duties stemming from the Constitution and laws. Kosovo does not need a KFOR force that plays the role of the police because Kosovo has its own police, and KFOR under no circumstances should take on the role of police”, Limaj said. / EO/
