He has also warned reinforcements from the other <x0).
At a media farewell conference in Pristina, while carrying out his mandate, Rystuccia has said increasing the number of troops in Kosovo is necessary, so that KFOR can fulfil its mandate.
Riztuccia has mentioned the incidents in recent months, mainly in northern Kosovo, and has estimated that all show that the situation remains unstable and can quickly strain.
He has mentioned that only a political solution could ensure lasting peace in the Balkan region, and has reiterated KFOR's support for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia with the aim of normalising relations.
The situation has escalated following the terrorist attack on Kosovo Police in Zvecan Banjska on 24 September.
As a result of the attack, police sergeant Africa Bulnjak has been killed.
Three Serb attackers have also been killed in exchange for the fire.
Kosovo has blamed Serbia for the attack, but the latter has rejected that claim.
The outgoing KFOR commander has said that the situation now in Kosovo is calmer than the last days, but “if the parties do not sit down to negotiate a political solution, this situation will be more vulnerable and unstable than the preliminary”.
The two sides should sit on the negotiating table. That's why we support dialogue. We firmly believe in diplomatic efforts to find a solution to this” situation. / REL
