Israel has summoned about 300,000 reserve soldiers in response to the surprise attack by Hamas militants, an Israeli Army spokesman announced on Monday.
The military described this call as the largest in Israel's history for such a short time.
Hamas, who controls the Gaza Strip, launched the surprisely powerful attack on Israel on Saturday.
Israel says more than 700 people have been killed and another 100 have been kidnapped by Hamas.
In Gaza, more than 400 people have been killed after the revenge air bombing by Israel, according to Palestinian officials.
There are serious concerns about the fate of more than 100 Israelites who were kidnapped and sent to the Gaza Seat.
