EU Ministers and Chiefs' Day Dialogue Next Week, Diplomatic Five Visit Defines Discussions

EU Emisari for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue Miroslav Lajcak, after meeting with Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, in Belgrade along with his four other colleagues, said the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia would be on the agenda of the EU member states' foreign ministers' meeting Monday, as well as [...]
This visit will directly affect those talks. As we have said many times, there is no European future for either Serbia or Kosovo, without the normalisation of their relations and implementation of the agreements approved for normalisation, both present and those earlier, to see a stable, prosperous and European region of the Western Balkans, so dialogue is of crucial importance. Our conversation with President Vuciq and Prime Minister Albin Kurti will continue in the coming days”, Lajcak said in Belgrade.
As in Pristina, Lajcak also in Belgrade indicated that the topic of the visit was progress in implementing the agreement for normalisation and despassing the situation, while underlining that for the September 24th terrorist attack, Serbia must co-operate to bring those responsible to justice.
We want to make it clear that we strongly condemn the attack on Kosovo police on 24 September. All perpetrators of the attack must be brought to justice and expect Serbia's full co-operation in this direction”, Lajcak said after the meeting.
He added that leaders have responsibility towards their citizens and how the parties should work on despassing and normalising relations.
We have conveyed that message to President Vuciq. Serbia and Kosovo have entered new agreements in February and March of this year, and we expect both sides to start fulfilling their obligations from both new and old-time agreements, Lajcak said.
The European Emissar in Pristina said Kosovo should start with the founding of the Serb majority municipalities' association.
Lajcak also said talks between European and American representatives with Vuciqi and Kurti will continue in the coming days.
EU envoy Miroslav Lajcak and American emissary Gabriel Escobar, accompanied by top diplomats of Germany, France and Italy, have first met in Pristina with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, and later with Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, in Belgrade.
Kurti, after the meeting, said a new “approach is needed to continue dialogue on normalising relations with Belgrade.
On the other hand, Vuciq in his Instagram account has indicated that the meeting with “five times” has been difficult, but that he believes he will find a way out of the crisis in the coming period.
