Germany's Foreign Affairs Mining, the top diplomat urged Serbia to remove troops from the border, Berlin is analyzing whether it will send troops to Kosovo, again called on Kiev, for Serbia to reduce troops on the border with Kosovo. Backock said from Kiev in Ukraine, there should be no more “tensions between Serbia and Kosovo.” The reduction of the number of Serbian soldiers at the border is “appel urgent here today from our joint meeting at Kiev”, said the minister a day after going to Pristina to its charge for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin.

But Germany still has not decided whether there will be an increase in the German KFOR contingent. A German Defence Ministry spokesman told DW on Monday: “we are closely monitoring the situation and we are in close contact with the Kosovo government and our NATO allies for further possible steps. It is important to weigh all the arguments. ”

Earlier, because of the tense situation in Kosovo, representatives of the SPD, Greens and the FDP have indicated strengthening the NATO-led KFOR peacekeeping force and suggesting sending additional Bundeswehr forces. “Germania, consulting with its allies, should soon consider whether KFOR's mandate is fully met and sending more soldiers to Kosovo”, Green Party politician Anton Hofreiter, chairman of the EU Committee in Bundestag, told “magazine. Spiegel” Hofreyer parliamentary group colleague Philip Krämer said Germany should also consider the degree at which the additional forces of Bundeswehr can be made available within the framework of the current mandate.

Social Democrat rapporteur for the Western Balkans Adis Ahmetovic, from the SPD ranks, also called for KFOR's mandate to be granted more armed forces. In a statement to the media, Ahmetovic had indicated additional EU Commission measures to prevent the escalation of the situation. He said mobilising Serbia's military forces at the Kosovo border is an attack on liberal Europe.

NATO reinforces troops in Kosovo

NATO recently announced it would increase KFOR troops, following increasing tensions between Serbia and Kosovo. According to a defence alliance spokesman, about 600 British forces will be added to Kosovo. Meanwhile, 200 fronts have arrived in Kosovo, the DW suggests.

German Bundeswehr currently has 85 soldiers stationed in Kosovo. The mandate, which was last extended from Bundestag in May, envisions up to 400 soldiers, in case of need. Parliamentary Defence Commission Chairman Marie Agnes Strack Zimmermann, from the Liberal Party, The FDP, said we can send even more if necessary, but we are monitoring the situation.

The Union's Christian Parliamentary Group accused the centre-left coalition government of collaborators in escalation of tens between Belgrade and Pristina. The current “government has unnecessaryly given up on Germany's long and successful lead role in the Western Balkans,” Defence Policy spokesman Florian Hahn (CSU) told the magazine.

Serbia, in turn, assured on Monday that the number of soldiers at the border had returned to a subx0normal> ”. Chief of General Staff said the number has been reduced from 850 to 4500. / DW
