Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, at the Berlin Process Summit in Tirana, during yesterday has also spoken about the situation in Kosovo following the September 24th terrorist attack.
Kurti said during his speech that Kosovo continues to be threatened with invasion by the Serbian state. The prime minister said the act of September 24th cannot and should not go unpunished.
“in a terrorist attack against Kosovo on 24 September, one of our police officials was killed, but the authors still roamed free in Serbia even though publicly accepted their involvement. It was a wicked act sponsored by Serbia, as evidence uncontested shows. We have confiscated over 5m euros of sophisticated weapons and ammunition produced in Kraguyevc and Cacak. Four times in the last two years Serbia has brought its army to our border. Even twenty-five years after the genocide campaign, and after so many rounds of dialogue, Kosovo is still threatened with invasion from Serbia. This moment requires us to reflect and not to continue our work as usual. Such an act should not go unpunished”, Prime Minister Kurti has said.
Kurti added that citizens in the Western Balkans today should not live in fear of a conflict tomorrow, but work for a future together.
We as their leader have the responsibility to build that common future. And as leader, we must engage in that trust process. A trustful commitment is required to ensure the long-term effectiveness of our agreements and the respect of all parties invested in the process. Last year, we signed three furniture agreements, an important step towards tangible results. As long as I value progress, it could be faster. Unfortunately, ignoring a key agreement on freedom of movement on the part of Bosnia and Herzegovina means the visa condition continues between Kosovo and Bosnia. I welcome the new arrangement for new nurses' professions, veterinarian surgeons, midwives and pharmacists, and welcome future agreements that further expand the range of professions involved”, the Kosovo prime minister said.
While staying in Tirana under the Berlin Process summit, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti had bilateral meetings with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Prime Minister Kurti thanked Chancellor Scholz for Germany's role and support.
The security situation was discussed following the terrorist attack on Kosovo on 24 September, where Prime Minister Kurti stressed that Kosovo has been under threat directly from a Serbian-sponsored paramilitary and terrorist attack.
Kurti stressed that moving ahead should be aware of Serbia's aggressive action, which has sufficient evidence and facts of their involvement.
Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has condemned the Berlin Process summit in Tirana, as he has said, more severely the terrorist attack on Banjska on September 24th, where Kosovo Police Sergeant Africa Bulnjak was killed.
He has said that he has suffered a serious blow to the region.
We took a hit in the region. Several weeks ago, Kosovo police were brutally attacked, and a policeman was killed. We condemn this thing more severely”, Scholz said, RTK reported.
He also said that even at the Tirana Summit, he has made it clear once again that there should be regional co-operation and that past conflicts should be resolved.
“requires concrete and tangible improvement, it needs agreements that facilitate daily life, unite citizens, which is important, agreements that boost mutual confidence”, he said.
According to him, the Berlin process from 2014 is carrying out this task.
Scholz has spoken in detail about the Kosovo-Serbia agreement, saying it is based on Germany's model when this state was divided.
I think so far a lot of deals have been reached. Last time I think there's been an agreement based on basic co-operation criteria that is quite similar to Germany's experience when it was divided, but that helped make people, businesses, easier for life and all things that are practical for everyday life. I think that's what we have to choose now and the chance is right now to get this and we're working on this” has the Chancellor stressed.
On the other hand, Scholz has stressed that Berlin, Brussels, Paris, Rome and Washington have strong will to solve the Kosovo-Serbia conflict.
Allow me to assure you that it is a strict will of my government, the EU of French, Italians, the US government to resolve this conflict and pave the way for a better future for the two states, both as members of the EU” has said Scholz.
During yesterday's day, the country's prime minister, Albin Kurti, has announced he has met British and British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly.
The executive head through a post made at the “X” has said they have talked to him about the current situation Kosovo is facing.
He has written that Secretary Cleverly has stressed the need to hold Serbia responsible for the September 24th terrorist attack on Banjska.
“We discussed the current situation facing Kosovo. I stressed the need to hold Serbia responsible for the terrorist attack and other violations, and stressed the importance of supporting Kosovo security”, Prime Minister Kurti wrote at “X”.
