Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbox called for investigation by Serbia for the attack on northern Kosovo on 24 September.
At the press conference following the Berlin Process Foreign Ministers' summit in Tirana, Baerbox said the Serb side's provocations to increase troops at the border with Kosovo have strained the situation. The attack by the armed Serb group, where the effective African Bulnjak was killed, the German minister called sly.
Serbian side's “Procedures for increasing troops at the border with Kosovo have strained the situation. This happens after a subtle attack by a terrorist gang. We expect Serbia to advance the investigation into the September 24th attack and the May events towards KFOR soldiers. The situation is so tense. NATO has increased KFOR's presence. The key to resolving the conflict is in Belgrade and Pristina”.
Backock stressed the importance of integration of the Western Balkans into the European Union.
It is a pleasure that the Berlin Process is now held in the region, where it is in its home. Clearly, the future of young people in this region is in Europe. We must speed up the pace of EU membership. What happened in Kiev made it more clear that the region's EU membership is necessary in geopolitical terms”.
24 delegations from Berlin Process member states gathered in Tirana today at the meeting of foreign ministers. It was the last ministerial in the series of three ministerials to precede the summit in Tirana, to be held on October 16th.
Our Foreign Minister, Igli Hasani, said these meetings are held at an important moment for the Western Balkans
The good news is that there is a new political will to expand the European Union with the Western Balkans”, Hasani said at the end of this summit.
These initiatives help us integrate into some policies of the European Union's common market. The goal is to revive the integration process with measures that are tangible by citizens.
