Yesterday, the Kremlin's defence ministry said the rockets hit two temporary bases, with 1,300 Ukrainian soldiers sheltered in the eastern town of Kramatorsk.
The attacks were like revenge for Ukraine's attack on Makivka, which left at least 89 Russian troops dead, ministry spokesman Igor Konsenkov said.
But Serhii Cherevatyi, spokesman for Ukraine troops in the east, has said the attacks in Kramatorsk damaged only civilian infrastructure, adding: Ukraine's “Armed Forces were not affected”.
The Donetsk regional administration said seven Russian missiles hit Kramatorsk and two others hit Constantivka without causing any casualties.
He said an educational institution, an industrial structure and garages were damaged in Kramatorsk, while an industrial zone was hit in Kostyantynivka.
Kramatorsk Mayor Oleksandon Honcharenko said two school buildings and eight apartments were damaged.
