Pristina municipality recommends that Government be taxed on property as in 2022

Through a proposal by President for Progress Rama, the Pristina municipality on Tuesday has recommended to the Government and Parliament that the property tax bill be the same as in 2022. With 30 votes to go, two more Rama recommendations were passed on the property tax to be taxed [...]
Reevaluating property from the Finance Ministry last week prompted numerous reactions to the outlook. In some areas, especially in the capital, property tax increased by 100 percent. Following the reactions, Finance Minister Hekuran Murati -- and then the Vetevendosje Movement -- recommended that 100 euros be awarded to taxpayers.
This recommendation prompted major debate at today's Assembly of the Municipal Assembly in Pristina, following the 100-euro apology proposal by VV's chief of assistants, Gezim Svechla.
We're dealing with a law that envisions reevaluation of property. That's why we're asking for citizen subsidization with these tools after we've shot at the difficult times”, Svechla said.
But that was opposed by other groups of asambitists and did not get enough votes.
From LDK, Asamblist Amir Simnica has said such an initiative is not in order because it is not the municipality, but central governance.
While the bearer of the PDK's ambistics list in Pristina, Leutrim Retkoceri has said this demand is illegal, calling for the report to return to the Assembly and the Finance Ministry to make re-evaluating property.
“This is the illegal proposal by the spokesman of Iron Murat at the Municipal Assembly in Pristina. It's discriminated against. The luxury neighborhoods reduce the tax rate while in the neighborhood around the center rise by over 100 percent. The report must be returned, go to the Parliament and the Ministry of Finance to make a decision on reevaluating property”, Retkoceri has said.
The VV's proposal also rejected the AAK of AKR, who said that a better solution should be able to help citizens.
Pristina Chairman Progress Rama has said people with social scheme and unemployed should be helped. Then, with 30 votes to go, Rama's three recommendations for property tax passed.
According to the Pristina head's recommendation, the property tax collection according to the new assessment conducted by the Ministry of Finance will begin from January 1st to January 2024, through the amendment of the Property Tax Law.
The second recommendation is that changing the Property Tax Law, according to 1 point of this proposal, enables the capital during 2023 to bill and collect property taxes according to 2022 billing values.
The third recommendation, however, is that the Government of Kosovo thanks to citizens up to 100 euros for duty on property. The proposal for 100 euros in assistance should come as subsidy from the Government, according to Rama's recommendation.
