Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Memli Krasniqi has called on the Kosovo government today to meet urgently and to make a decision to share emergency financial funds for affected municipalities, as well as to respond to meeting their needs for the situation and quick housing of people in their homes.
The opposition leader has written on his Facebook page that time requires action with institutional and state responsibilities and, according to him, the Government should take responsibility, today and immediately.
“The state of settlements affected by the floods in Skenderaj, Mitrovica and Istog, as well as Podujevo and Kline, is continuing to be extremely serious. Residents of those areas are facing great hardships, including homelessness. The damaged and uninhabited homes, economic damage and total disparity of normality have made the situation urgent, and rapid reaction must be required for that, Krasniqi said.
While municipalities are in charge, according to Krasniqi, this burden is greater than they can afford.
Therefore, I invite the Government of Kosovo to meet with urgency, as soon as possible, and to make a decision to allocate emergency financial funds to affected municipalities, as well as to respond to meeting their needs, to sanction the situation and shelter of people in their homes as quickly as possible. The example of citizens in solidarity with each other is inspiring, but time requires action with institutional and state responsibilities. The government must assume its responsibility, today and immediately”, Krasniqi said.
