So says Radio Free Europe, Hanife Salihu, member of the Grand Council in SBASK.
“We have also directed the mayors of municipal unions to take the view of how to continue the strike, to be suspended for a certain time or to take other steps, we are waiting within these two days to give an answer”, she says.
The United Education Union has said, on September 28th, that it has turned to US membership with a letter, through which it has asked them to give their opinion on the idea that strikes in education be suspended by January 2022, and the learning process start on October 3rd.
In a media communiqué, the SBASK says the search for membership to suspend the strike is due to a lack of social dialogue.
They have said that they are not attracted by additional demands on wages until the Law is implemented for wages, changing the Law on Voteral schemes, and the Law on Health Insurance.
As a result of strikes in the education sector on August 25, over 300,000 students have lost their learning.
The reason for the strike and the main demand of education unions directed at the Government of Kosovo is the separation of 100 euros per month for workers until the Bill on Salaries comes into force.
According to education unionists, their demand for an additional 100 euros is based, due to rising inflation.
Kosovo's government says that this law, envisioning salary increases for public sector employees, will come up with approval soon and requires the start of learning.
What do education unionists and Government say?
The Kosovo government, in some cases, has called for the start of the education process. “does not make a boycott of state strike”, Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said. In some schools, teachers have individually decided to hold the clock, but most are on strike.
The chairman of the United Trade Union for Education, Nakman Jasharaj, has said the Government, which according to him, “does not reflect the demands of unionists”.
Earlier this month, the Government of Kosovo has submitted a package for confronting inflation, in which public sector employees, including teachers, benefit from the additional 50 euros, initiated this month.
The Education Union has not accepted this <x0ffer”.
