Suriname's Ambassador to the US confirmed that talks with the US were in a preliminary phase, and the country was considering whether it will move forward.
“We are considering it,” Ambassador Marten Schalkwick said, adding that the country will appoint a team to handle the talks if necessary.
“generally, Suriname is a place where people can adapt quickly,” he said.
The State Department refused to comment on any conversation with Surimin about taking Afghans, who were evacuated last year during the US-backed government's collapse and taking Afghanistan from the Taliban.
