These actions clearly violate the UN Charter and international Law, and are diametrically against the rule of law among nations... These referenda in areas that have been firmly brought under Russia's temporary control in no way represent a legitimate expression of the Ukrainian people's will, which has consistently resisted Russian efforts to change borders by force”, the statement said.

We'll never get to know these referenda, which seems to be a step towards Russian annexation, and we'll never know a supposed annexation if it happens”.

In addition, leaders said “called on all countries to reject these false referenda, which are Russia's attempts to cover up international Law violations”.

“We are willing to impose further economic sanctions on Russia and on individuals and subjects inside and outside Russia who offer political or economic support for Russia's illegal efforts to change Ukrainian territory status”, the statement said.

These referenda have started on September 23rd and will continue until September 27th. They are being held in four regions -- Luhansk, Donjeck, Herson and Zaporija -- all southeast of Ukraine.

This act is considered illegal under international law, and the same has been condemned by Ukraine, the West and the United Nations Organization.

The group of the seven most industrialized countries (G7) consists of: The United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, and Japan.
